CrowdStrike™ Appoints President of AppDynamics and Sales Veteran Joe Sexton to its Board of Directors

Irvine, CA – March 3, 2015 – CrowdStrike Inc., a leading provider of next-generation endpoint protection, threat intelligence, and services, today announced that Joe Sexton has been appointed to the company’s board of directors. Sexton joins CrowdStrike’s board as the company experiences rapid growth and expands globally.

Sexton is the president of AppDynamics, the leader in application intelligence for software-defined businesses, where he is responsible for all field operations including sales, marketing, business development and customer success. Under Sexton’s Leadership, AppDynamics has experienced unprecedented Enterprise Software sales growth, which resulted in annual bookings more than doubling to over $150 million in the most recent Fiscal Year. Prior to joining AppDynamics, Sexton held the role of executive vice president of worldwide sales at McAfee where he was responsible for $2.5 billion in annual sales and managed an organization of 2,000 people. Under his leadership, McAfee doubled its sales, resulting in a $7.7 billion acquisition by Intel in 2011. Sexton has also held executive sales positions at Mercury Interactive, EMC and CA Technologies.

“We are honored to welcome Joe Sexton to the CrowdStrike board of directors as we continue our mission to redefine the security endpoint and intelligence market,” said George Kurtz, founder and CEO of CrowdStrike. “Sexton’s impressive background in driving growth and building robust go-to-market businesses is a perfect complement to our diverse board as we look to expand globally. Sexton’s appointment further bolsters our company’s record year of growth, revenue and innovation.”

Last year marked an exceptional year for CrowdStrike: during which the company’s revenue grew by 142 percent and the customer base more than tripled. Sexton’s appointment to the board comes at a time when the company continues to expand the capabilities of its next-generation endpoint protection offering and secures four out of the top ten banks as customers. The launch of CrowdStrike’s Falcon endpoint protection marked a major shift in the way corporate security is delivered. By combining cloud scalability with big data technology and in-depth endpoint forensics, CrowdStrike is able to deliver the first endpoint security solution capable of detecting advanced malware and adversary activity – providing attribution and contextual awareness of threats, while stopping active attacks in real time.

“I have had the privilege of working with many large and small companies in the security space over my career, but never have I seen a company better positioned to completely disrupt the endpoint security market,” said Joe Sexton.

“With its groundbreaking SaaS Falcon Platform, CrowdStrike has the opportunity to revolutionize the information security field by dramatically improving the speed, accuracy and effectiveness with which security professionals can protect their organizations,” Sexton continued. “The threat landscape today dictates that businesses find a better way to detect and stop adversarial activity targeting their networks. CrowdStrike’s Falcon Platform is the answer.”
